The goal of this study was to help church leaders return to spiritual formation and transformational leadership by practicing the characteristics of quality leadership in effective church administration. It was argued that the practice of these spiritual disciplines can lead to effective church administration. The thesis was tested among leading laity of the member churches of the Evangelical Fellowship of Sierra Leone (EFSL) by way of responding to a questionnaire. Exegetical work is done on 1 and 2 Timothy that identifies characteristics of quality leadership in effective church administration. These books argue that when spiritual characteristics are practiced will lead to spiritual formation and transformational leadership, which results in rapid church growth.
To test this hypothesis, a questionnaire was given to leading laity, followed by instructions done by the researcher. Following the completion he analyzed the influence of the characteristics of quality leadership in effective church administration. The study concludes that there is need for the practice of the characteristics of quality leadership that bring about spiritual formation and transformation. This practice entails spiritual leadership characteristics toward oneself, spiritual leadership characteristics toward women, spiritual leader and God, spiritual leadership characteristics toward congregation and spiritual leadership characteristics toward evangelism. Doing these practices will accomplish the new ministry initiative that brings about effective church administration for rapid church growth. However, there is a dire need for further research on this topic because of the limited size of sample test and time limit given to the test. Also, an ongoing ministry of quality leadership is required.
