School of Theology
First Female Faculty Member
Prior to Price’s arrival, Helen Clark MacGregor’s enrollment had prompted the creation of a special “Bachelor of Sacred Theology” degree, which restricted women from pastoral courses. The STB’s creation exposed the need for a full-time instructor in Christian education to support women pursuing work as church staff members.
Price established, directed, and taught Fuller’s Christian Education program. The program’s success increased female enrollment and enabled women to graduate with a “Master of Religious Education” degree.
The MRE and STB degrees helped pave the way for women’s complete inclusion in the Fuller community. In 2016, over 51% of newly enrolled students were women, with no degree off-limits.
